'ತುಲಾಭವನ'ದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಡಿಯಾರಗಳಿಗಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ

ದೇಶೀಯವಾಗಿ ತಯಾರಾದ 37 ಮೀಟರ್‌ಗಳನ್ನು

ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಜೋಡಿಸಿಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.

ಆಯಾ ಕಾಲಘಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ

ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಬಳಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್

ಓಡಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಜಮ್ಮು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರ, ಈಶಾನ್ಯ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು

ಹೊರತುಪಡಿಸಿ ಎಲ್ಲ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೂಕ ಅಳತೆ ಸಾಧನಗಳನ್ನು, ಅವುಗಳ

ವಿವರಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸಲು ಅಲೆದಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕೆಲವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ

ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಕೆಲವನ್ನು ಗುಜರಿ ಅಂಗಡಿಗಳಿಂದ, ಹಳೆಯ ವಸ್ತು

ಮಾರಾಟಗಾರರಿಂದ ಖರೀದಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವುಗಳ ರಿಪೇರಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಈ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಕಾರ್ಯದ ಅನುಭವವೇ ಅವರಿಗೆ 2010ರಲ್ಲಿ ತೂಕ ಮತ್ತು

ಅಪ ಸಾಧನಗಳ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಂಪರ' ಎಂಬ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಬರೆಯಲು

ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಮೊದಲ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶಿ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ ಬಸವರಾಜ್

ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ಸಂಗ್ರಹ

ದೇಶ ವಿದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಯಾರಾದ, ರಾಜ ಮನೆತನಗಳ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ

ತೂಕ ಅಳತೆಗಳ ಸಾಧನಗಳೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದೇ ಸೂರಿನಡಿ

ನೋಡಬಹುದು. ಅಪರೂಪದ್ದೆನಿಸಿದ 18ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ತಕ್ಕ

ಡಬ್ಬಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಇದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಗಣಪತಿ ಚಿತ್ರವಿದ್ದು, ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ, ಬಂಗಾರದ

ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಗಲು ಇದನ್ನು ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತಿತ್ತು.

ವಿಜಯಪುರ, ಬೀದರ, ಕಲಬುರ್ಗಿ, ರಾಯಚೂರು ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ

ಸುಲ್ತಾನರ ಆಡಳಿತದ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ತಾಮ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿತ್ತಾಳೆಯಿಂದ

ಮಾಡಿದ ನಲ್ಲಿಕಾಯಿ ಆಕಾರದ ತೂಕದ ಬಟ್ಟುಗಳ ಸಂಗ್ರಹ ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ.

ಸಂಗ್ರಹಾಲಯದ ಹೆಸರು 'ತುಲಾ ಭವನ", ಜೂನ್ ಮೊದಲ ವಾರ

ಉದ್ಘಾಟನೆಯಾಗಿ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರ ವೀಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ ಲಭ್ಯವಾಗಲಿದೆ. ಈ

ಸಂಗ್ರಹಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತೂಕ– ಅಳತೆಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ 1600 ವಿವಿಧ

ಪರಿಕರಗಳನ್ನು ಅಚ್ಚುಕಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಜೋಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸಾಧನಗಳ ಕೆಳಗೆ

ಅವುಗಳ ಕಾಲ, ಹೆಸರಿನ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇನ್ನು ಕೆಲವು

ಪರಿಕರಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.

ಈ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಾಲಯದ ರೂವಾರಿ ಬಸವರಾಜ್ ಯಳಮಲ್ಲಿ, 54 ವರ್ಷದ

ಬಸವರಾಜ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ತೂಕ-ಅಳತೆ ಪರಿಕರಗಳ ನಂಗೆ ಕಾರಣವೂ

ಇದೆ. ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬ ತೂಕ-ಅಳತೆ ವಸ್ತುಗಳ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರ ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಂಡು

ಬಂದಿದೆ. ತಂದೆ ಚನ್ನವೀರಪ್ಪ ಯಳಮಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲೇ ಈ ಅಂಗಡಿ

ಆರಂಭವಾಗಿತ್ತು, 32 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರ ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಂಡು

ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವ ಬಸವರಾಜ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಪ್ರವೃತ್ತಿಯಾಗಿ

ತೂಕ-ಆಳತೆಗಳ ಸಂಗ್ರಹ ಯಾಕೆ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು ಎಂಬ ಯೋಚನೆ

ಮೊಳಕೆಯೊಡೆಯಿತು. ಇದು ಹೊಳೆದಿದ್ದು ರಲ್ಲಿ, ಅವರು ಇದೇ

ಬಂದಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಏನಾದರೂ ಹೊಸದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂಬ ತುಡಿತ

ಉಂಟಾದಾಗ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ತೂಕ ಅಳತೆ ಸಾಮಗಳನ್ನೇ ಏಕೆ

ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸಬಾರದು ಎನ್ನುವ ಯೋಚನೆ ಮೂಡಿತು. ಉಳಿದ ಹವ್ಯಾಸಗಳನ್ನು

ಬದಿಗೊತ್ತಿ ಅದರತ್ನ ಕಾರ್ಯೋನ್ಮುಲನಾದ' ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ ಅವರು ವಿಶೇಷ

ಎಂದರೆ ಈ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ

ಬಸವರಾಜ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ತೂಕ ಮತ್ತು ಅಳತೆಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಮಾಹಿತಿ

ಸಂಗ್ರಹಣೆ ಸವಾಲಿನ ಕೆಲಸವಾಗಿತ್ತು, 'ಇಂಟರ್‌ನೆಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾಲಾಡಿದರೂ

ಸಿಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಬಹಳ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿತ್ತು, ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಪುಸ್ತಕ

ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೂಕ-ಅಳತೆ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಉಲ್ಲೇ ಇರುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ನಾನು

ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ಮೂಲದಿಂದಲೇ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸುವ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಯಿತು'

ಮುಂಬೈ, ಗೋವಾ, ತಮಿಳುನಾಡು ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಮಾವುಗಳು,

ಗೋವೆಯ ಪೋರ್ಚುಗೀಸರು, ಅದಿಲ್‌ಶಾಹಿಗಳು, ಪೇಕ್ಷೆಗಳು,

ಹೈದರಾಬಾದ ನಿಜಾಮರ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಹಿತ್ತಾಳೆ ಮತ್ತು ತಗಡಿನ

ಮಾಪುಗಳನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಬಹುದು.

devices at Tula Bhavana

in Davanagere offers

a glimpse into the

evolution of these

instruments, writes

city, has a new attraction now. It is Tula

Bhavana, the first museum of weights

and measures in the country. Located in

Chamarajpet market area of the city, the

unique collection is the result of constant

efforts by Basavaraj Yalamalli, whose

family is in the trade of selling weights

and measures for several decades

now. He has a collection of over 3,000

weights and measures, of which 2.500

are displayed in the museum.

family trade. After he joined his father

LETTER OF APPRICIATION

Recently I got an opportunity to visit “TULABHAVANA” at Davangere,

Karnataka. I surprised to see the antique huge collection of weights, measures

weighing and measuring instruments used by people in those days. There are more than

2000 articles displayed. In-spite of available space limitation, every article are well

displayed with tag of name, period & origin. The passion of Mr. Basavaraj for collection

of such verity of articles is appreciable. I would like to mention that most of the items are

in working condition. It serves as a source of knowledge to understand the historical

development of weighing & measuring process in society. Tulabhavana has many

credits of recognition including " Limca book of record' and others.

I wish for further success and international recognition to " Tulabhavana".
